About the Red Bud, Illinois Area
In 1978, The Red Bud Historic District was placed on the National Register of Historic Places as an example of a 19th century crossroads commercial town. The town is bounded by Market and Main streets. Red Bud is known as the “Blossom City,” named after the beautiful redbud trees that grow in the area. The small town is one of the Great River Road Communities in Randolph County that bears the motto: “A Community of Spirit, Pride and Conviction – A Way of Life – Red Bud”

- Red Bud Area Museum, 116 E. Market St., is the site of the old Opera House built in 1855; The museum collects, preserves and displays exhibits, artifacts and documents that show the city’s history and growth
- Red Bud Public Library is located at 925 S Main St., just 1.5 miles from the community
- Red Bud Sports Complex is located at 146 Powell Rd.; the complex is used by the Red Bud Athletic Association for all of its recreational teams
